영국의 미들섹스 태생으로 존 메이올의 그룹 '블루스 브래이커스'에서 만난 존마크(기타,보컬)와 쟈니앨먼드(플룻,색서폰)는

오랜 세션경험에서 얻어진 노련한 테크닉을 바탕으로 1970년 실질적 듀오 프로젝트인 '마크 앨먼드'를 결성.

71-81년까지 한 세대를 풍미하면서 'What Am I Living For','Just A Friend','Vivaldi's Song'같은

소위 언더그라운드 까페음악을 양산해 냈으며 다분히 실험적인 초기음악세계를 펼친 공수양면의 팀
